Jennifer Schmidt Consulting conducts all its activities bearing in mind the fundamental principles of human rights. These rights are universal in their character and based on the inherent dignity of all human beings regardless of their nationality, religion, ethnicity, sex etc.
Human rights violations are traditionally committed by governments, or their governing bodies. Gross abuses are also committed by non-state actors and governments fail to protect their population, or there is no government in place. Great efforts are being undertaken by the United Nations and the international community to put an end to abuses. Multinational corporations are also becoming more politically and socially aware of their actions.
Human rights violations occur in every country. There is not one recipe for every situation. In case of systematic violations in a given country, it might be necessary to form public opinion. Other cases might require a more delicate approach with confidential talks and negotiations. The goal of Jennifer Schmidt Consulting is to ensure that there is legislation and institutions in place to take preventive measures and to provide effective remedies to those whose rights have been violated.
We have experience of working with human rights in non-governmental, governmental and intergovernmental organisations both at national and international level. Jennifer Schmidt Consulting has the technical knowledge and expertise for analysing specific cases or legislation in the light of international standards. The company can also report on the overall human rights situation and draw up programmes for implementation. |
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”
